NGC 5516

NGC 5516 is a lenticular galaxy in the constellation of Centaurus. Its velocity with respect to the cosmic microwave background is 4,328±25 km/s, which corresponds to a Hubble distance of 208.2 ± 14.6 Mly (63.83 ± 4.49 Mpc). However, three non-redshift measurements give a farther mean distance of 226.68 ± 13.74 Mly (69.500 ± 4.212 Mpc). It was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel on 1 July 1834.
