They'll use deep multi-tiered surveys to 'hear' radio signals from galaxies at incredible distances, even all the way back in time when our universe was still very young (over 13 billion years ago!).
Technical definition
The range of values in a given parameter (such as redshift or distance) that are studied within an observation or survey.
