Not what scientists initially thought. The discovery also hinted at another possible explanation that would be as cool as a spatial investigation on the ship – perhaps there's a big, thick 'ring' around this pair of stars

A class of stellar objects with effective temperatures between spectral types K and M (hence "late-K/early-M"), characterized by low surface temperature and moderate to high surface gravity.
