Galaxies are built from different parts... In this special case, M1149-BSG-z5 has a super-sized 'bulge' in the middle – it's like an extra-strong heart keeping the star-generating machine running at full speed!

Technical definition

The relative size and importance of the galaxy bulge (a centrally concentrated region) to the disk (a flaring, rotating layer).
